Student Co-Housing Standard room 3 blocks from VIU campus Student Rooming co-housing (students only!!!) We are three blocks from campus and all primary services. Recreation centre, Shopping, Work opportunities, and local activities. Bus service is 1/4 block away from all other destinations. We offer there types of rooms: Economy, Standard and Delux. This is our Standard room. They are about 10x10 feet with a window viewing the backyard and average closet space or dresser. A single bed and a work desk station are possible. We have two rooms on the upper floor and one on the ground floor, which is open. About the Co-housing: We are a community and family-friendly environment, supporting students to succeed in their studies and life. We encourage international students to stay and work together and have many rich experiences on campus and in the community. Most students stay with us for 2-3 years. We have one of the best prices and locations in town and are looking for students wishing to be in social housing while also doing their studies and seeking outside work opportunities. We are social co-housing for students who share common space, laundry and outdoor yard green space, BBQ, Covered deck, Smoking area, Fire pit, living rooms, theatre screen, TV, Wifi, and Printer for school projects. We have a garden to grow fresh vegetables, fruit trees, apples, plums, and cherries. We are on a quiet street behind local services with many walking and bike trails and parks nearby. Downtown is a 15-minute walk, 5 minutes biking, 3-minute by bus with many more stores, waterfront beaches and restaurants. About the house: We Have a split-level House with semi-private ground floor suits with two rooms with a shared full bathroom, kitchen, living room+ fireplace, and dining room. The Upper house has three bedrooms with a full bathroom, kitchen, dishwasher, living room + fireplace, a theatre screen, and ample dining room space. Some furnishing is possible (bed and coverings, towels, desk, kitchen gear, basic supplies for cleaning, and some basic food staples). All living rooms and dining rooms have furniture. About the management team: The manager is a retired Elder with many years of teaching and outdoor skills; he has his suit with a washroom and mini kitchenette. He has a Therapy cat and a Service dog labrador who is supper friendly but can also stay in the unit if you are scared of dogs or cats. We have operated our boarding/Rooming house for students for 30 years. Usually, he can be reached by text or Facebook. He offers connections to the local First Nation community and other social events in town several times a year. Typically, we cook and share one meal weekly and have gathered on significant holidays to share food, games, and movies. Rules: We Have a standard set of rules and expectations, but put: A quiet, clean, and serious student who follows house rules. No pets or parties. No significant group gatherings without housemates agreeing. No splitting a room with another student. We are not a party house. Most students work and study, so we value a quiet, calm atmosphere. Lock doors when you leave, and No guests over without direct supervision (sleepovers are occasionally OK. Let housemates know via Facebook messenger). Students must clean up after using the joint space, kitchen, and bathroom. The resident manager cleans 2x month, but students are expected to make an effort to clean and recycle their garbage, compost, and recyclables, wash dishes/ load or unload the dishwasher, and pick up and sweep up if they make a mess. All cleaning supplies are handy. Room option and long-term stay price: We have several room options and prices. Please see our other ads; some included private washrooms or larger room sizes. Note we offer a slight reduction in fees if you stay for six months and a larger reduction at the 1st anniversary. Many students stay for two to three years.
