Welcome to Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs..the best side of the city (we might be biased)! ** Please read the rules before booking We generally host stays of 2–30 days. Stays may be extended on agreement. Our home is a character-filled older house tucked into a peaceful cul-de-sac in a quiet estate near Monash University. We offer a relaxed, friendly homestay that’s ideal for travellers and backpackers seeking a calm base, as well as university or language school students needing accommodation. The guest room is simple & comfortable. On guest arrival : - Freshly laundered linen & towels - Basic toiletries - Small treat pack of iconic Aussie snacks and drinks * Complimentary Light Breakfast is included in your Homestay (toast/cereal/rice or noodles, tea/coffee, fruit) You are welcome to help yourself to tea/coffee at any time. A weekend dinner can be arranged for an extra fee of $20 per person if you would like a home-cooked meal. My son and I share the home. He works days, I work evenings, so the house has a nice, easy rhythm. We respect your privacy, but are happy to have a chat, share a meal, or a relaxed drink if you feel social. The real bosses of the house: 3 cats. They’re gentle, mostly keep to themselves, and may stop by to say hello. Guests need to be comfortable around cats and not allergic. They’re not allowed in the guest room, but as any cat owner knows, a completely fur-free life is… aspirational. Outside, you’ll find a large backyard with a covered verandah overlooking the garden, a great spot for a quiet morning coffee, a relaxing read or some bird watching. We’re about 20 km from the city centre, but getting around is simple. A bus stop just 10 minutes walk away connects you directly to the university, train lines, and major routes. Monash Uni is an easy 15-minute walk or a quick bus ride. Two shopping centres are within walking distance (or a short bus trip) with cafés, cinemas, supermarkets, and plenty of places to browse. A larger shopping hub and aquatic centre are also nearby for swimming or gym sessions. Our area and surrounding suburbs have a large population of people from East/Southeast Asia and Europe, and many restaurants serve authentic cuisines. Or if you are feeling particularly homesick and want to make your favourite home-cooked meal, many Asian/European grocers/delis/markets stock everything you need. We’re close to the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, home to superb walking and hiking trails, including the famous 1000 Steps. You can visit Puffing Billy Scenic Railway and the Botanical Gardens, a treasure trove for nature lovers. Our location is also a great gateway to Phillip Island and the Mornington Peninsula, perfect for day trips. We are happy to suggest places for you to visit or help with directions. If I am available and already leaving the house, I'm happy to drive you to the train station to save you a bus trip. Come and stay and relax, we’d love to welcome you! Room(s): 1. Double Room (Double Room) with Shared bathroom The guest room is simple, comfortable, and filled with natural light. Double bed, bedside table/lamp, desk/chair/lamp, 2 wardrobes (one hanging, one shelves), bookcase, external window sun shade, Wi-Fi. Capacity: 2 Rates: 300.00 Weekly / 1100.00 Monthly House Rules: ** Full payment of the Homestay is to be paid in CASH, ON arrival, along with Passport or Licence details. ** A $20 Cleaning fee is required for all stays longer than 2 nights. This is to be paid in CASH, ON arrival. * For extended stays, other payment options can be discussed (bank transfer or PayPal is possible) - advance payment must clear into the Host's account before the due date. Check-in - 3:00 pm, Check-out - 10:00 am (if you need earlier or later, we can discuss). *General Rules No shoes inside the house. No smoking/vaping inside the house. No Pets. No visitors without prior approval (we do not mind you having friends over so long as you have discussed it with us first). No food in the bedroom. Bedroom is expected to be kept clean and tidy at all times. Bathroom use is restricted to between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm Washing machine use is restricted to full loads once a week due to water restrictions and costs. Dryer is not available for guest use; there is a local laundromat if required. *Kitchen Rules Available for use only between 7:00 am and 9:00 pm. Guest dishes are provided for your use. Wash, dry and put dishes away after use. Leave it clean and tidy, all spills wiped.
