Perfect for Uni student

Hi there! We have 2 rooms. 1 single bedroom and the other a double bed which is much bigger room. We are a family of 5 with 2 girls and 1 boy all in high school. The family is upstairs and the 2 available rooms are downstairs with own lounge and tidy bathroom which has a shower and toilet for guests only. Student preference is for girls as we have 2 girls at home and my youngest boy is with us every 2nd week. We are currently hosting under 18 study tours with our school but our preference is for over 18 that can manage themselves. Please let me know if you require any further information. Room(s): 1. We hope you enjoy your stay. Below are guidelines for living with us, and some important information, which will help to create a happy home for everyone. YOUR FAMILY Luke & Seona Metherall Taylor (15) Harper (14) Maddie (13) HEALTH ISSUES If you are feeling unwell, please tell us. We have a local doctor down the road and we can help you find after hour doctors or chemists if needed. You may have to pay to see the Doctor costs. If we are not home, please call 13SICK after 6pm at night and before 6am in the morning. HOUSE KEY We will give you your own front door key when you arrive. If you lose the key you will be charged for new a key. The key is to be returned before you move out. Even though your room door has a lock, we do not have a key for it. When leaving the house daily, please ensure that you: • Turn off lights, fans, Aircon at the wall or power board switch in your room • Lock the outside door and close any open windows • Check for any other open doors if you are the last one leaving YOUR ROOM Your room is yours, and we will not enter without knocking first. We have a cleaner who comes every 2 weeks, and she will only dust and vacuum if you wish. We ask that you keep your items tidy so it is easy to clean. • In Australia we sleep in a bed, between the sheets, with blankets or doona on top. • You will be asked to change you bed sheets just before the cleaner comes We also ask you to please: • Keep your room clean and tidy • Do not cook, or keep or eat food in your room • Do not leave any wet clothing or towels in your room • Do not stick anything to the walls. If you wish to hang anything, please ask us • Ask us if you need extra blankets if you are cold or a fan if you are hot • Please check if your shoes are dirty before wearing them inside PRIVACY It is important when you are sharing a home to respect each other’s private time and areas. We have 3 children. • When in your room, toilet and bathroom remember to keep the door closed • The door has a lock please use it. • Knock! Especially any private use areas (bedrooms and bathrooms) before entering Please make use of the downstairs living room and the kitchen and dining areas. NOISE We don’t mind you playing music or chatting with your friends via mobile or internet but please try to do this before 10:00pm at night. If you need to call your family after this time due to time zone differences let us know, and try to stay in your room. LIGHTS, FANS & HEATING • Please make sure you turn off all lights when you go to sleep • Please turn off fans and heating in your bedroom when you are not home • Do not turn on the air conditioning without permission INTERNET We don’t charge for internet as this is included in your fees. We share the internet among all the family so if you have an issue with speed for your schoolwork, let us know. The internet is NOT for games, downloading music or movies as this will exceed our data limits and make it very slow. You are always welcome to purchase extra data for your own personal use. MEALS We provide a light breakfast of toast or cereal. We will show you the special basket for where you can keep your snacks and other food that is not provided by us, we have a normal Australian breakfast of cereal and/or toast ourselves. You can help yourself to this, and we can show you where the breakfast items are kept. We offer tea and coffee, and can show you how to work the kettle and special coffee maker. We normally eat dinner around 6 - 7pm. We are a tidy family, so when you use the kitchen please make sure that you leave it clean and tidy. Rinse and stack your bowls next to the sink so we can pack the dishwasher. TOILET • Never squat or stand on the toilet seat. • Never flush anything down the toilet except for toilet paper. • Do not use too much toilet paper as it may block the toilet and cause it to overflow. • Always wash your hands with soap after using the toilet. • After use - please wipe down any spills on the toilet WATER USAGE In Australia water is expensive and its use is restricted. Please help us save water by keeping showers to a 6 -8minute limit and turning off the water whilst you brush your teeth. Please do not waste water. BATHROOM • Please only bathe in the shower cubicle so water does not splash onto the bathroom floor • When using the bathroom, close the door. There is a privacy lock on the door, please use it. • There is usually a bathmat on the floor, stand on that when you get out of the shower • Hang your towel up to dry after you use it. • Have a toiletry bag with your own shampoo, soap, tissues etc • Leave any wet items in the bathroom or hang out to dry - please do not leave them in your room. • If you make a mess, please clean it up. • Please complete all shower activities by 10pm • Your bathroom maybe shared with 1 other guest, please be respectful and tidy PERSONAL HYGIENE Remember that Australia can have very warm weather. You should maintain good personal hygiene by putting on deodorant each morning before dressing. LAUNDRY We will show you how to use the washing machine. You will need to do your own washing. Please use the clothesline outside to dry your clothes. When it is raining, you can use the dryer. Please only do 1 load of washing each week to ensure a full load and keep water usage down. CLEANING While we have a cleaner who comes each fortnight, we like a tidy home. As part of our family we would like you to: • Clear over your dishes after meals (and put into dishwasher) • Keep your own room clean and tidy • Keep your bathroom clean and tidy - do not leave wet towels and clothes on the floor • Don’t have food in your bedroom • Change the sheets on your bed DAMAGES If you have broken or damaged something in the house, don’t worry. We know accidents happen. Please just let us know as soon as possible SMOKING Smoking is not permitted at all in the house. FRIENDS We would prefer not, so please ask us before you invite friends over. Short term for pick up / drop of is no problem but we would prefer not to have friends over. GOING OUT If you go out with friends at night or on weekends you must find your own way home either by public transport or taxi. Download the Translink app on your phone and computer to work out the best and quickest route to travel. You can purchase a “GO card” or use a credit card to Tap On and Tap OFF the transport. LEAVING HOMESTAY When finishing your stay, please let us know if you are leaving early and make sure the room is clean and tidy.
